The Papers of Madeline R. Robinton, 1907-2006.

The Papers of Professor Madeline R. Robinton contain personal correspondences from friends and relatives and former Brooklyn College students. There is also some information here describing her years at Brooklyn College, such as class rosters, notes, source books and conference materials. Another series is comprised of Professor Robinton's written and published materials including her book titled The Papers of the New York Prize Court 1861-1865, book reviews, manuscripts, drafts, research materials as well as her husband's book New York State Freedom Train. The final grouping is personal and includes photographs, cameras, travel itineraries and post-cards. In addition, there is also some correspondence from Professor Robinton's former alma mater Barnard College and her sorority Phi Beta Kappa and also some legal information regarding the dismissals of Professors Whittier, Faigelman, MacDonald and Silberman from Brookyn College.

Madeline Russell Robinton was born in New York City on March 22, 1909. She graduated Barnard College in 1929 and received her doctorate from Columbia University in 1944. She taught history at Brooklyn College from 1931until she retired in 1976. Professor Robinton was one of the founding members of the Phi Beta Kappa chapter at Brooklyn College and served as book review book review editor for the Key Reporter of Phi Beta Kappa.
